ReplyDelete(please thank Ben Cook & Robert Thompson from the Popscene facebook group.)
Thanks to all, but both episodes have no sound. Lurker, can you spin your magic once again to put these out in sound?
DeleteHello lurker! Please can you upload this files on Wetrnsfer? I can't find them on this site
DeleteThey do have sound, get your device updated with correct audio codecs!
DeleteThanks Rob & others.
DeleteLove SwissTransfer, I annoyed Mrs Lurker with my 'The Hills are alive with the sound of music' impression.
She told me it was Austria, not Switzerland.
She wasn't impressed.
You have just caught The Lurker family before we leave for our holidays.
Here are your fixed episodes Dory:

@Dory any that need fixing while I am away, will have to wait until I return, as I 'fix them' on my desktop computer.
@Rob please keep posting, as I have my 1000 year old tablet with me, with its dodgy screen and broken ports, but it can download.
Back on 24th June and I will catch up with any fixes then.
@Anonymous They work fine on my Linux desktop.
DeleteThe audio uses mp4a-6B mp4 audio.
Apparently it causes problems with chromium/chrome browser.
Thats why, I thought people who have problems with the file are using a chromebook.
I know Dory tried installing vlc and said it still doesn't work.
I just thought it was of them Google things...
Also it takes no time at all to convert, with my script.
It's just the upload that takes some time.
Thanks Lurker, you helpfulness and community spirit stands out on this site for people who are not as tech-minded as others, so don't listen to Anonymous
DeleteAnyone know where I can get hold of the totp2 from 23 December 95 please? It brings back memories for me and missed out on it. I'm not on FB
DeleteDon't listen to me!! Right then will stop supplying them, enjoy last few as won't be no more!!
DeleteThanks Rob. Ben and Robert!!!
DeleteHi Rob, I've had a request from RT if you wouldn't mind not naming him and BC re the TOTP2 links, but instead perhaps just to thank 'Anonymous'. Thank you :-)
DeleteGrow up”anonymous”. Dick
DeleteYou're the dick! Appreciate my shares instead of acting like a baby.
DeleteLove Jo Whiley presenting any show never mind TOTP. I mean Good Lord, did you see the chemistry between her and Steve Lamacq? Anyway, never mind Lamacq, but please can we have Jo Whiley every week presenting TOTP for the next 10 years?
ReplyDeleteGarbage - Stupid Girl
I didn't really have much time for this in 1996, and remember it was nothing special, but now 28 years later, I find it growing on me, and really quite a good tune. It did help I suppose with the nicely dressed lead singer who was looking quite nice in that minidress!
Chart rundown - at peak at No.33 was the surprise return of Bizarre Inc who were most remembered in the 1991-92 era with their big hits, and now with their first single in three years since early 1993, in what was to be the first of three singles in 1996, none of which reached the Top 20.
Another new entry at peak at No.36 was Sunscreem who were only recently on TOTP with their previous single, but now with singles fast drying up, they too were struggling to emulate their early 90s achievements, and taking anything thy could get in terms of chart positions by 1996.
Love Jo Whiley. Serious proper crush and she has aged like a fine wine. Dory you have good taste.
ReplyDeleteLove SHED SEVEN as well. Can't believe "Going For Gold" was their only top ten hit. Excellent tune.
Lots more songs getting an outing post peak position and this time it's OASIS. Not sure we needed it again. Looking ahead, by 99/00 with almost every number one being new and lasting a week the songs often open the show the following week when they drop to Number Two. Something to look forward to.
A MADONNA tune I do not remember. It's a knock off of "You'll See" and a poor one at that.
Every DJ and Rock Mag loved MENSWEAR. I didn't. The songs were just not good enough for me.
Mrs Morgie fave LIONEL RICHIE up next. "Don’t Wanna Lose You" went down well here.
CELINE DION – "Falling Into You" one of her best and happy to see this again (as a plug for the album.
GARBAGE one of my favourite 90s bands and "Stupid Girl" a great tune. Wonderful performance and highlight of the weekend (sorry Shed Seven).
We will never speak of this Prince Naseem travesty again.
And we are done.
Love Whiley and Lamacq. He seems more comfortable than last time they presented.
ReplyDeleteIf you stop this episode at Garbage, it's a pretty decent one.
