    1. This one has no sound.
Lurker, any chance of converting this one with your fixes when you are back from holiday? Unless anyone else knows how to?

    2. Just seen this new article about Johnnie Walker who is severely ill, and the prospects do not look good. Hope he can defy the odds and come through:

  2. A stagnant Top 3 this week, with the two instrumentals still at No.2 and No.3, and very disappointed not to see the Donna Summer video as the chart rundown video this week, having entered as a new entry at No.13, but lost out to Foo Fighters lower down the chart at No.19 who got the chart rundown honours this week instead.

Summer's State Of Independence was originally released in 1982, peaking at No.14, so this re-release in 1996 with a new entry at No.13 had already trumped the achievement of the 1982 original release on its first week in the 1996 chart, but was ignored completely, so nothing for the disco queen here in 1996 on a better achievement for the same single second time round. Good Lord!

    Kadoc - The Night Train
Good vibes from this Spanish group, and great start to the show, sampling the trumpet intro from Yazz's 1988 No.1 The Only Way Is Up (did anyone spot that), and the lead singer only had four words in a mainly instrumental tune - "All aboard" and "The night-train". Another instrumental to add to the three instrumentals in the Top 8, so Kadoc made it at least four instrumentals in the Top 15. Good Lord!

    DJ Dado - X-Files
Good Lord, was this necessary considering the legendary Mark Snow composing the original TV series theme tune and stuck at No.2 this week, it looks like DJ Dado was muscling in on Snow's achievement with a heavier techno sound compared to Snow's original for the TV series.

Gina G - what happened to the TOTP tradition of not having the same group two weeks in a row performing in the TOTP studio when not at No.1!

  3. Kadoc - Remember dancing to this in the clubs. Decent dance tune.

OCS - Another quality single from a very fine album.

Foo Fighters - Clever video and a good tune.

DJ Dado - Unnecessary dance mix of the X-Files theme, but does show the world domination of this show at the time.

Pulp - Best in show. Nice change of pace form them.

Prodigy - should have said last week what a great video this is.

  4. Oooh this was a really good episode overall.

Pulp and the Prodigy were my favourites, but Ocean Colour Scene, Kadoc, FF, GG and MM are decent and DD lucky to be riding the X File mania (shame that they couldn't get a full alphabet of alliterative performers, but very close).

  5. Top 40 debut at No.37 for Mansun with their One EP, the lead track being Egg Shaped Fred. More to come from them later this year
