    1. Interesting that BBC4 didn't edit out Tony Blackburn's mention of Gary Glitter having retired by then in 1976, just before Blackburn introduced the Dolly Parton video.

New Edition - no, not the American boy band of the 80s, but the British group headlining the Seaside Special imminent new series for 1976 due to start later that month. I liked the video clips of the Seaside Special trailer involving New Edition, interspersed with the TOTP studio performance, and it would have been good to see the whole video.

Mud - the best part of this was Cherry Gillespie of Ruby Flipper doing a solo energetic dance to it alongside Mud but not on stage together, and this was still more interesting than Mud, except for the song itself which was superb.

    1. Dion - while I love Patti of Ruby Flipper, especially the quarter screen focussing on her lips, there is no escaping the power of Dion's voice, and it was a shame they could not show the black & white 60s footage of Dion singing this superb classic.

Not sure why Osibisa when straight into the new No.1 by The Wurzels without Noel Edmonds introducing the new No.1, so was there a BBC4 edit here, as this was most unusual, as it is not possible that a new No.1 is not introduced by the presenter. Good Lord!

    2. Could someone post the 17-6-76 edition, as BBC4 will be skipping this one next Friday because of DLT, and will go straight to 24-6-76?

    3. Here is the skipped 17/06/76 episode:

BBC4 and Eins Festival only showed it once or twice in 2009 and 2011. It has never been shown in the light of day again - well here you go.

Brotherhood of Man - DLT introducing this follow-up to their recent No.1 as a future No.1, My Sweet Rosalee only managed No.30 at peak which was quite disappointing, especially as the tune started off similarly to Kisses For Me.

Mud - didn't know that MUD stands for Maniacs Under Demolition as DLT informed us, but unusually they appeared two weeks in a row on the show, considering that this accolade was only for performers at No.1, so not sure how this was possible, but this time instead of Cherry from Ruby Flipper having a cameo on it, we got DLT joining in on the drums with the MUD drummer. Good Lord!

Murray Head - only knew his stuff for One Night In Bangkok in 1984, so didn't know he went as far back as 1976 performing on TOTP.

    5. Sorry we can't delete our comments anymore on here (why not Angelo?), as I made a mistake - MUD were previously on the 3-6-76 show, and not on the 10-6-76, so were not on the show two weeks in a row.

    6. The surprise sisters - no noel, not delightful, absolutely excruciating. Record of week??

  3. Andy Williams - I like how the 71 year old Andy Williams on this performance played on stage with so much energy. Is this the oldest singer to ever perform on TOTP? Anyone know?

Kele Le Roc - I liked the way Jayne Middlemiss bridged this into the Le Roc performance by saying there was only 50 years or so in age difference between Williams and Le Roc, and they just happened to be side by side on the chart at No.8 and No.9, so why not?

Tina Cousins - really liked this, with or without Sash, it was just brilliant, with her cuteness something to behold, and in my age group too! Good Lord, it has made my weekend already. Never mind Whitney Houston, just more Tina please!

New entries this week for 80s legends Echo & The Bunnymen at No.22 with Rust, and David Sylvian at No.40 with I Surrender, also finding themselves at peak position, and no chance of a TOTP invitation ahead of the latest 90s pop sensations like Steps having yet another invite for the same song.

  5. Could we have the Delete click option back, as it used to be next to the Reply click, and was useful if a post was put up and had to be deleted because of a mistake in the text before reposting. Not sure why this option was removed.
