  1. Some good stuff on this show, and nice to see Ranking Roger back. I remember when The Beat came along in 1980 with Mirror In The Bathroom where he was the defining sound, and had his own inimitable style that stood out, so now with Pato Banton it was an interesting combination, but seemed to have the Birmingham link along with UB40.

Corona was the highlight of the show for me, and I'm getting used to the nice lead singer, and the minidress was just superb on her.

Interesting that the two Song For Europe contestants Deuce and Love City Groove were on the same TOTP show this week, albeit Love City Groove on video at the end of the show, and while Love City Groove came out on top as our Eurovision hopefuls, Deuce did better in terms of peak position in the pop charts at No.10.

Take That on video at No.1! This was always my favourite Take That tune, just so catchy and sing-a-long that it still sounds so good 28 years later is just testament on how far they had come in three years since they burst on to the scene as a new boyband in 1992.

Also noticed that peaking at No.26 this week as a new entry on the chart rundown, and with no TOTP play, was Boyz II Men with Thank You. With their finest tunes in 1993 and 1994 now behind them, 1995 was not as good a year, but they were still coming out with some very good stuff.

  2. Bless Pato Banton having the time of his life since the Campbells kept preventing a studio performance when he was number one.

    Great track from Corona.

Thankfully Portishead get an appearance after the omission of Glory Box albeit on video.

Real McCoy have lost a little something with MC Saar. it's ok but nothing remarkable.

Bryan Adams and Wet Wet Wet back to back? is this some sort of punishment for all those weeks at number one? Nice of Bry to show up given he was number one for 16 weeks and mostly didn't bother.

Great stuff from Björk although we don't need two exclusives in a row.

Good to see Deuce. Steps really did rip their whole image and sound off though (with the exception of 5678) and to greater success. I hope the three who aren't Lisa Armstrong are also successful in whatever they're doing now.

  3. Goody Bags this week with a solid show even thought we've seen a few before.

PATO BANTON and RANKING ROGER get things off to a great start with possibly the most infectious song on the charts "Bubbling Hot". Loved singing and swaying along to that. Great fun!

CORONA bring lots of energy with "Baby Baby" then a huge gear change into PORTISHEAD. What a superb tune "Sour Times" is. How did this band not end up with a Bond theme to their name? Stood the test of time this one.

M.C. SAR (who proper fancies himself) has come rather underdressed for the Pops, as have the girls. did they just step out of the cab onto the stage? " Love And Devotion" one of their lesser tunes.

I hate the sound of Spanish guitars, goes right through me for some reason. Sorry BRYAN.
Nice spelling of Naugnty (Naughty) in the chart predictions. Well done all.

Best thing WET WET WET have done in a long time. No memory of "Don’t Want To Forgive Me Now" but happily hear that one again.

Best kept away from a naked flame it's BJÖRK in Black. "Army Of Me" a real moody number from her and I rather liked it.

Eurovision could-have-beens DEUCE go Top Ten with "I Need You". Odd choreography to this one. They all seem to be doing random Power Rangers moves and none of them are in sync with each other. Bit of a shambles frankly.

TAKE THAT still at the top and catching their death in the rain before LOVE CITY GROOVE on video so we can hear what the song should sound like. It hasn't aged well has it....
