Top of the Uploads

 So I thought I'd try this as a little experiment, and see how it goes. This is a post where you can make all your requests for old editions, to keep them separate from the main blog comments. I hope this is ok with everyone? I love all the comments about the shows from all our wonderful contributors each week, and I also love how rare and old editions can be requested and shared by everyone, for all to enjoy, and I value highly the brilliant and prized service the generous uploaders provide

So I hope this keeps everybody happy :-)

I'll post a new page for uploads in a few weeks time or so if this page fills up.

      Dory does 01.07.76 exist as an entire show?Popscene have three performances only,and two of them are repeats from existing shows.

    Yes this is wonderful idea. We're all fans of the show and want to see these classic editions as uncut as possible and mostly Anonymous and a few others are so very kind in sharing what they have.

    Since the start of the year I've been working my way thru a rewatch of the show and have reached 1983 so far. That particular run of repeats on BBC Four were very badly edited what with mentions of next weeks presenters being either Yewtreed or Mike Smith..removal of Johnathan King segments..we even had some songs removed due to rights issues.. so its been wonderful to enjoy these uncut via the uploads that anonymous has provided.

    I watched 3/3/83 last night and BBC Four have snipped some dialogue from John Peel just before the number one..presumably as he mentions Mike Smith as being on next week? If this episode is available as an upload that would be great to see as knowing John Peel it was probably a very funny line as Kid Jenson says 'I think we better get into the number one!".

    Shame the BBC made these sorts of edits and hopefully we are now in an era where we can see the latest shows uncut. So yes.. if I could request 3/3/83? Fantastic if its out there?

    Hi Anonymous! Love your uploads, you're a star. I would like to request archive copies of the following shows that may prove problematic for BBC4 should they get this far in the repeats, which are:

    11/02/1993
    10/11/1994
    15/12/1994
    22/12/1994
    07/12/1995
    06/12/1996

    I lurk here and don't post as the early 90s aren't really my era, but it'd be a shame to miss out on all of the above shows if they do reach the mid 90s years. As such, many many thanks if you can provide these!

      Glenn- have you had a chance to watch the 15.10.81 yet? What's interesting about that one is there's additional performances & outtakes from Randy Crawford at the end, with the display board indicating the song was filmed for the Two Ronnies but for some reason it's got on to the end of the tape for TOTP. It's always interesting to see & it makes you wonder how much footage like this is tacked on to the end of other tapes, some of which might be undiscovered.

      Yes i noticed the extra performances but i didn't notice the Two Ronnies bit.I've seen some extra unbroadcast performances tagged onto the end of shows but i don't knoe which shows.Manhatten Transfer - Birdland 1979,Devo - Satisfaction 1978 and Flintlock - Like A Magnet - 1978.There might be more.

    I sincerely hope that BBC 4 doesn't stop the rebroadcasts... There are plenty of great 90's shows to watch...
    Of course, the TOTP 90's shows are not so strong and consistent as 70's and 80's episodes, but some include unique powerful performances, from artists such as Bryan Adams, Cher, Leann Rimes,Tina Turner that today's record company executives, artists should watch...

      I saw a list a while back that had complete episodes listed on an archived BBC website which included the one from '70 & the two from '74 which was why I asked Anonymous, but I'm not sure how old the list was.

      Great stuff mate! Didn't even know this one was retrievable! Hope you're feeling better after your surgery. While I'm on can I ask if you've got any performances from 3/04/75 or 17/07/75? I've asked Anonymous but he hasn't got any. Plus can you re-upload the 4:3 version of 28/12/89 again please as I didn't download it soon enough before the WeTransfer had expired. I didn't realise that it expired after a week as the Anonymous ones have a month on them. Cheers!

    Do you have the 1987 Montreux Golden Rose Rock Festival, that was a kind of a giant TOTP special show, held in Switzerland, directed by Michael Hurll, Top of the Pops executive producer at the time, presented by Mike Smith, with performances from artists such as A-ha, Bananarama, Cock Robin, Communards, Curiosity Killed the Cat, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Eighth Wonder, ErasurE, Genesis and many more?

    There are some bits of the show on Youtube. Quality isn't great...

    Mike Smith didn't present the show alone. Amanda Redington from the UK music channel Music Box also helped him...

      I categorize my TOTP folder on my hard drive, so all the 1981's go in that folder etc. Just sometimes if I'm busy they're still in the download folder.

    Hi xrayfour! Did you spot the sneaky edit that seems to have gone under the radar on 27/10/88? Drykid did a restoration at the start when Anthea Turner reads a drugline phone number out, but at the end, when they come out of the number one by Enya, the same number is edited out but everyone seems to have missed it. I got confirmation of it when Anonymous uploaded the unedited show for me.

      Hi brie, I got the unedited 27/10/88 thank you. One edit that crept under my radar until very recently is on 06/05/82 as Simon Bates is talking to Joan Jett. I did an mkv restoration if you need it. Not sure if it's appeared on here to date.
