But it's hard to get by when your arse is the size of the 5th of February 1999 edition of Top of the Pops!
Bus (s)top ten hit
5-2-99: Presenter: Jamie Theakston
(5) BRYAN ADAMS & MELANIE C – When You’re Gone
Going back up the charts, but had already peaked at number 3.
(9) GARBAGE – When I Grow Up
With their fifth of six top ten hits but it got no higher.
(10) INNER CITY – Good Life (Buena Vida)
In the studio with a song that had originally peaked at number 4 in 1989, this new version became their fourth and final top ten hit and it was at its peak.
(8) THE DIVINE COMEDY – National Express
Performing his only top ten hit and it was at its peak.
(19) LEILANI – Madness Thing
With her first of two top 40 hits, this was her biggest but it got no higher.
(4) DRU HILL – These Are The Times
Here with their second of two top ten hits, and also their biggest and final hit, and it was at its peak.
(2) THE OFFSPRING – Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)
Last week's number one.
(1) ARMAND VAN HELDEN feat. DUANE HARDEN – You Don’t Know Me (and credits)
Just the one week at number one.

I did like the sexy dancers on the No.1 this week from Armand Van Helden, as we were given a preview of the girls on the TOTP sofa earlier in the show. Good Lord!
ReplyDeleteA new entry further down the chart at a peak of No.56 was Linda McCartney with The Light Comes From Within, which was the second of two solo singles in 1998/1999, both of which failed to trouble the Top 40.
Only 1 TOTP2 this week, as due to a strange timeline coincidence, The Masters Snooker was on the week after.
