    2. Oasis & The Spice Girls come from 30/6/94 and 2/8/96 respectively.

    3. I wonder why the Beeb tampered with the original show from 1994 to include songs from 1994 - 2000, with the latest being Kylie Minogue with Spinning Around from 2000? Has anyone got the original show without these extras added in 2001?

    6. Just watching he original version from 1994 (thanks HEW), and it seems the original captions were from right to left, rather than in still in one block on the revised 2001 version.

Really like the Roy Orbison footage of Pretty Woman from October 1964 where the TOTP studio audience were watching and dancing to the video from a big wall screen, and we would see similar footage again 16 years later in October 1980 in colour when the TOTP studio audience were watching and dancing to the video of Suddenly by Cliff Richard & Olivia Newton-John.

  2. "poptastic" Wow what a great nostalgic clips, there is something there for everybody,.
TOTP 1994 I liked as it had more Britpop, an era that I really loved.

Please does anyone have the following radio broadcast or know how I can obtain this:

VISAGE LIVE BBC Radio 1_15th May 1983 on Kid Jensen Session, it is on youtube, but edited.

  3. Happy New Year to all on the site. I thought it was a fantastic 2 hours of TOTP this evening. The 2 re-repeats were great; 3/1/85 was very enjoyable (favourite bit was Peelie cracking up while looking at Richard Skinner at the end of 'We All Stand Together' and Richard completely failing to respond) and 4/1/79 was an absolute gem of a show. Can't we just go all through that year again?
No, we must roll on and it was really good to see the 30th anniversary special again. Unfortunately not the original version but an update which to me slightly spoiled it and the additions just looked out of place. Westlife the penultimate item? No thank you. Must say though that I did enjoy the clip of 'Shakermaker'.
The only clips cut was Gary Glitter and a Jimmy Saville introduction to Sonny and Cher. No complaints for that but why did they cut out the extended clip of Bing Crosby? Worth showing for its complete one offness, maybe it wasn't cool enough in 2001.
I still think it was far better than the 25th anniversary show, a better choice of clips and almost entirely taken from TOTP. Favourite clips were Dave and Ansil Collins, the live vocal of 'Holding Back The Years' , the extended clip of The Who and best of all, the classic debut appearance of Blondie 'Denis' which I don't think has been shown on any of the repeats up to now. Only problem I had with the choices was that the Glam section was missing Sweet 'Blockbuster', from Jan '73, as perfect a TOTP clip as you can get. Still it was really entertaining and funny and Smashie and Nicey perfect choice as hosts. Just 4 more editions before another lot of changes.

    1. The 4/1/79 show was the first regular show on these Angelo blogs, so if you scroll down to January 2014 when this January 1979 episode was shown, you can see the first blog on here, and also who the contributors at the time were.

Looks like Arthur Nibble and Charlie Cook were the only ones there from the beginning. I joined sometime later that year, but thankfully able to contribute again now on that original blog called "Hello This Is 1979". Thanks Angelo for keeping the blogs all up since then.

    2. Hi Dory, thanks, good to see you added a post to 4/1/79. I'll add a bit in, er, a bit. I'll do one for 3/1/85 as well. I wonder why '81 and '82 haven't had a look in yet. I also see that 8/1/76 didn't get shown so presumably they're not taking the opportunity to show some pre April '76 editions.

    3. Belated happy new year, everyone! I don't critique the compilation shows, hence my absence from here until I decided to have a nose tonight.

  5. RIP Jeff Beck. Read an obituary in the Mail which strangely didn't mention his most famous song 'Hi Ho Silver Lining' at all.

    1. The BBC news website mentioned his discovery of feedback while gigging at the town hall less than three miles from me. I played the same venue twice but not to as much acclaim!
