  1. Nothing to comment on the songs on the roster of this episode, as some of them were second showings that were already commented on a couple of shows ago.

One song peaking outside the Top 40 this week was a rare flop from Prince at No.52 with The Morning Papers, as he continued releasing singles from his 1992 album by this point in March 1993.

You would have to go back to 1986 for the last time a Prince single failed to make Top 40, with a song called Mountains which peaked at No.45.

  2. A very 1993 show tonight: ragga/reggae, dance, Jamiroquai and some rereleases. Just missing a bit of boyband and fledgling Britpop.

Not the best show in the history, though Laters finally predicts the next number one correctly. Haven't heard that PM Dawn track since 93, so nice to hear it again. Haven't heard that Cliff track since then either, no idea what it's doing outside of its natural home of December.

Also not sure what Bryan Ferry is doing outside his natural home of 1983 but then the new guard of Shaggy, Shabba, 2 Unlimited are surrounded by a lot of oldies this week, he's not alone.

  3. Dorky being more waffly than usual in this edition. Really annoying.

Sister Sledge with a “Sure Is Pure” remix. Sure is shite. Where is that fourth sister still?

Interesting to finally hear Bruce Dickinson’s decent lower resister on probably his last hit single with Iron Maiden, which sounded like Metallica until the tempo and higher octave kicked it in and it just sounded like Maiden.

Shaggy giving Sacha Baren Cohen ideas on an outfit for a comic character there.

Blimey, that’s a segue. Dancehall meets Soul II Soul. Shabba!

Not Braying Ferry again! Obviously wants to be in front of the dancers this week as he’s the star, luvvie.

I couldn’t hear Jamiroquai without thinking of the “Fast Show” mickeytake with Jeremy Kwee.

PM Dawn, second division compared to De La Soul and Arrested Development in my book.

Is it Christmas already? Cliff’s been listening to too much Mike and the Mechanics. Shame that stage cage effect wasn’t fully completed.

So “No Limit” reaches its chart summit limit. Fun while it lasted.

  5. I've attempted to post on last weeks blog about 6 times and it says submitted then keeps disappearing so I've waited a few days before posting this weeks with fingers crossed

SISTER SLEDGE – Lost In Music (Remix)
Another great remix. Great performance of a quality disco tune. like.

IRON MAIDEN – Fear Of The Dark (Live)
Can't stand this at all. No wonder Bruce walked out. Rubbish.

    SHAGGY – Oh Carolina
Safe bet Laters that this will be Number One. Lot of love for this tune but it took a while to grow on me at the time.

    SHABBA RANKS – Mr. Loverman
Shabba! US style reggae rap with a bit of soul.. It's OK but never gonna be a fave.

BRYAN FERRY – I Put A Spell On You
Fast becoming my favourite tune this year. Just so stylish and gritty. Almost a bit Bond like.

JAMIROQUAI – Too Young To Die
Probably my least favourite Jamiroquai tune but still a decent effort and I liked the live vocal here. Going on to greater things.

P.M. DAWN – Looking Through Patient Eyes
No memory of this at all. And its brilliant. Going straight on the playlist. Thought it was fabulous.

CLIFF RICHARD – Peace In Our Time
I'm assuming the 30+ heat has got to me but I even liked the Cliff tune tongiht. Very Eurovision like with a knock-off Bucks Fizz on backing vocals.

    2 UNLIMITED – No Limit
    Week 5 or 6?
