  1. Love Jo Whiley as presenter again, brightens up my day. Also TOTP now no longer has the song title and artist at the start of each song, but instead only at the end. Compare this with the early days of TOTP where you would not get any, whether at the start or end of the song, but had to listen to the presenter to know who was singing it!

Also now removed are the up and down status of each single on the chart rundown, but only seeing NEW ENTRY for new entries, to be cut even shorter to NEW the following week for new entries.

Bee Gees - still got it after 30 years or so in the UK charts since 1967. Looks like this was the 30th Anniversary single since New York Mining Disaster was their debut single in March/April 1967. Incredible longevity by the Gees.

Aerosmith - Good Lord, Aerosmith appearing in the TOTP studio. Must be the first time, as I don't recall anything other than their videos on TOTP. This seems to follow a trend in the 90s of historic stadium bands of the 70s and 80s who never had time for TOTP, having now to play small studios to extend their career and gain new fans. Prince, Cher, Diana Ross to name but a few going to TOTP in person to perform their new singles, and no doubt some others that I don't remember.

Talking of Prince, now The Artist, a new entry at No.19 this week and at peak on the chart rundown, was to be the final single in a chart career stretching back to the early 80s with his first Top 40 single called 1999, so it was good to see him performing The Holy River in a recent edition of TOTP when as a new exclusive. Was definitely worth the wait, even though it came at the end of his catalogue.

  4. Nothing too memorable about this episode.
Beck being the highlight of the show for me.
