Next Fiday after the Pops on BBC4 a 90 minute special:
ReplyDeleteEastEnders Sings at the BBC
Actor Shaun Williamson - aka Barry - invites you to enjoy some of EastEnders’ finest musical moments, on a journey through the BBC archives that celebrates 40 years of Walford warblers - from chart-topping Nick ‘Every Loser Wins’ Berry and Martine ‘Perfect Moment’ McCutcheon, to old favourites like Mike Reid, Barbara Windsor and Letitia Dean - who made 'Something Outta Nothing’ with a leap from the Queen Vic to Top of the Pops.
Plus there are some rarely-seen showstoppers and Albert Square dancing from the cast’s regular appearances on Children in Need over the years, and a selection of performances from those actors who had tasted chart success before making the move to E20 – including Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp, Blue’s Lee Ryan and even Eurovision contender Samantha Womack.
No Doubt - going back up the charts at No.3 and the chart rundown video this week, so we're back watching them again on TOTP after already having been at No.1 a few weeks earlier. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteN-Trance - not sure what to make of this, but a similar approach to rapping up a disco classic like they did with The Bee Gees' Stayin' Alive a couple of years earlier in 1995. This new Ottowan 1980 cover reminded me a little of Turbo B coming in with his rap on Snap's Mary Had A Little Boy in 1990.
DJ Quicksilver - love the vibes on this one, it really gets you on the dance floor, or it did in 1997 at least. Nice dancers on stage I thought, especially the ballerina, so thanks Angelo for the caption.
Playout video - Good Lord, The Spice Girls doing a No Doubt and getting a video play when further down the chart after already having been at No.1, and at the expense of featuring another single climbing up the charts. Is there a new trend here on TOTP?
Had enough No Doubt and Spice Girls by now.
ReplyDeleteChemical Brothers was great to hear again.
