    1. This was an excellent edition. Don’t remember, but much enjoyed, the snatch of the elton john song.

    2. A very eclectic edition this one. A wonderfully incongruous two in a row courtesy of Bryan Ferry's cover of the Velvet Underground song from their self titled 3rd album (the only appearance of the Velvets in some form or another on Totp I'm assuming) and the curd forming pure fromage of the disco cover of 'Singing In The Rain'. Sheila B Devotion; as awful as 'Spacer' was completely fantastic.
It's always a joy to hear 'Never Let Her Slip Away' with Andrew Gold and his big haired shiny zip up jacketed mates (supposedly Freddie Mercury's voices) having a great time. I loved how the sax goes right up to Andrew's face when it first appears to the point where you see it actually ruffling his hair. Their expressions suggests they all fell about laughing as soon as the director said cut.

    3. @Mic,1,2,1,2 we also were amused by the obvious fun the Andrew Gold players were having…

    4. Sheila B Devotion - my only recollection of her was the superb Spacer released at the back end of 1979, and charting in the UK in Jan-Feb 1980. However this 1978 single Singing In The Rain had her dancing in hotpants, which really suited her look I must say.

Andrew Gold - the video for Never Let Her Slip Away, featured on this TOTP show, was recently made available on iTunes, so an excellent purchase for £1.89 for music video collectors.

Michael Zager Band - pop heaven from 1978, and probably among the best Legs & Co outfits and horn appeal you will ever see.

  3. I watched 'The Hong Kong Beat' when it was show. Followed the day to day exploits of Inspector Wong. Great theme music.

Presumably the keyboard player in Squeeze is Jools Holland?

Co-co of course featured Cheryl Baker (wearing hotpants here) who would have better luck three years later in Bucks Fizz.

    1. @sct353 one of the other coco’s looked like Marty Kristian from New Seekers, but he isn't credited as a member on wiki.
