  1. Anyone know why this episode of TOTP was nt shown by BBC4?

Anyway, just outside the Top 40 this week were two old favourites from the 70s and 80s, now well into their solo careers in the 90s - Mark Knopfler at No.42 with Cannibals, and Midge Are at No.70 with Breathe. I mean Good Lord, in a 90s chart era where people were preferring Gina G and SWV over Knopfler and Ure, it was amazing that these two old timers still had the motivation to release new material in 1996!

    2. Yep the BBC skipped it, he was on after the chart rundown video by Robert Miles, so they couldn’t edit that out in a similar way to R.Kelly. ITV3 sorted out the 5999th Corrie episode with Ray Langton’s passing at Deirdre’s wedding reception in The Rovers Return Inn and as they would’ve been skipped for the 6000th episode which featured a murder.

1997 will have some skips too with R.Kelly and Sean Combs (Puff Daddy) probably, as we are missing two number ones from the late 90s due to recent convictions.

  2. I was wondering why Gina G went from #2 to Three Lions being number one when I was sure she topped the charts before that... now I know why!

  4. Yes - I've missed the link too. Only two days is a ridiculously short amount of time to have it up for...

    1. It looks like each of the performances on this show are now on YouTube instead of the whole show in one posting, so effectively the whole show except for the chart rundown video is now on YouTube, albeit as separate components.
