Hi guys Just wondering if anybody would have a collection of shows from ITV called Supersonic ran for 2 years from 1975 - 1977 I think all but 1 of the 58 shows are around + a xmas one off from 1983 from CH4 , any shows apricated thanks Meer
Thanks Lurker I did find shows on You Tube but i was really looking for shows with Rod steward , Liverpool express, Ace and Albert Hammond to name a few , It was a great show for Artists that did not chart or at least not high enough for TOTP . Definitely one to watch if you can
Back in 1988, by the time Paul Ciani was already producing TOTP for the BBC, in the cable TV channel SKY Channel, there was an excellent, vibrant music TV show called Countdown (produced in Holland by Rob de Boer).
I have some Dutch Countdown shows but not sure yet if any are from Sky Channel/Musicbox. The show was renamed CD:UK at some point and they are not available. Two new Tube Midsummer Specials from 1983 and 1984 are available now.
I remember when I started watching the Dutch Countdown shows in English language, back in May 1986 in the Pan-European satellite channel Europa TV. Then the shows moved to SuperChannel UK, because Europa TV closed and finally to Sky Channel in 1988...
Is it possible to upload one or two Dutch Countdown shows?
How many parts exactly has the Montreux Festival 1987 (BBC version)? You uploaded 2 parts to me, but are you sure there isn't a third part? Many artists like Duran Duran, Swing Out Sister, Level 42, Thompson Twins don't appear in parts 1 & 2...
Hi Ana, it's all a bit confusing at present what with festival and gala from 1987, we are working on it a present and think we have found what you're after, keep checking back.
Okay Ana, all of the Montreux 1987 shows are available now in a folder. The artists you mention above are on 26/05/87 (REEL 2). The Countdown Classics 1987 show is also available. Please post after download.
I loved the Montreux 1987 tapes, in particular the gala, presented by Mike Smith and Amanda Redington... I remember Amanda from Musicbox UK. She used to have her own show there. I think that in 1987 her monday to friday show was at around 8 pm...with many guests too... Of course the craziest VJ on Musicbox UK was Nino Firetto!
I absolutely loved the Countdown studio clips that you uploaded. Many of them I never watched them before... The Frankie Goes to Hollywood, performance for example, is excellent! They had many stars performing live in the Countdown studios in Hilversum (North Holland). The Countdown show in Holland was broadcast by Veronica TV.
Xrayfour, please upload more Countdown NL stuff when you can!!!!
Thanks for the fresh page Angelo! Hi Anonymous! Here's my weekly request. This week they're all from 1987 and are 8/01, 2/04, 9/07, 17/09, 8/10 and 19/11. Cheers!
Has anyone got any Swap Shop episodes ? Each week this Saturday morning show featured many guests, especially what was current on the music scene. I always remember the Adam Ant interview. Cheggers Plays Pop.....Each episode also had a current chart single being performed in it.
Swap Shop from 27/09/80 is available now. Swap Shop's live transmissions were recorded onto two separate reels. The outcome was that a small section of each show was not recorded as the reels were changed. The first of two songs on this edition by Jim Lea's band "The Dummies" was not recorded. I've bridged the gap between the two reels with an off air copy of the clip. It's from You Tube and not great quality! Rest of the show is okay.
I downloaded the Countdown NL 10 Year Anniversary Special from 1989! Great TV special for Countdown NL fans, like me! Many, many thanks!!!
Talking of TV music specials:
During the 80's (1987, 1988 and 1989) on BBC Two there were a series of TV music specials called IBIZA 92. These programmes recorded in the idyllic setting of Ibiza, contained highlights of special pop concerts made for TV, leading to the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain.
I don't know if you watched these music specials, but they included fantastic performances by Duran Duran , Nona Hendrix , Spandau Ballet,Chris Rea , Poison, Marillion, Freddie Mercury, Matt Bianco , Suzanne Vega, Jonathan Butler , Siouxsie and the Banshees, Ofra Haza, Belinda Carlisle , Breathe, Robert Palmer, Prefab Sprout Natalie Cole, Fine Young Cannibals, Swing Out Sister, Grace Jones , Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam and many others...
This is different from the Montreux specials, all recorded inside a casino... IBIZA 92 was recorded in an Ibiza disco, KU, with a huge swimmming pool, palm trees... fantastic scnerie!
Okay Ana, the IBIZA shows from 1987 are not available and possibly wiped. The show from 17/10/88 is definitely wiped. It featured Matt Bianco, Suzanne Vega, Jonathan Butler, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Wonderstuff, Chris Rea, Tom Tom Club and Ofra Haza. Some of the performances are on You Tube. The second show from 1988 together with two from 1989 are available now in an IBIZA folder. That's all we have from the series.
It's great to have the opportunity to watch these shows from the 80's! I downloaded all of them.
It's sad that the 1987 shows are possibly wiped and it's even sadder that the 17/10/88 is totally wiped... The Duran Duran performance playing "Skin Trade" and "Notorious" is a great loss...
It's fantastic that the Spandau Ballet, Belinda Carlisle and Natalie Cole are still available. Those were some of my favourite bits!
First of all I want to THANK Anonymous and xrayfour for their upload!!
I have two editions from 1984 Montreux Festival: one is from a BFBS (I think it was a television channels to the British Forces personnel serving overseas) and the other one is from a Canadian channel named MuchMusic. Unfortunately, none of them have the Ultravox performance I am looking for.
Do you have this show xrayfour? (Of course, my version are at your disposal, if you want them)
Thanks in advance Take care & stay healthy Sorry for my English but it isn't my mother tongue
Hi Javier, Three Montreux 1984 shows are available now in a folder. Ultravox are on Show One from 28/05/84. Show Three from 19/06/84 is a new high res copy.
The Montreux archives are fantastic... The Ultravox performance great... and many others artists like Joan Jett, Adam Ant, Slade, Queen, Rod Stewart, etc
I would like to ask for your permission (if you don't mind) to made a request of 3-4 archives each week. I understand the effort and time consuming it takes to fill all the requests and I would not like an excess of orders to make you leave the blog.
Of course I reiterate my offer, my entire collection is at your disposal (I have 70s-80s music TV shows from Germany, Spain, France, USA, Australia, etc)
Thanks in advance Take care & stay healthy Sorry for my English but it isn't my mother tongue
Javier, could you please post around 20 of your archive requests now if you have them to hand. It will take us time to check availability and would be helpful for us to have the names and dates. Thank you.
Smash Hits Poll Winners' Party (30th October 1988, BBC One)?
It was hosted by Phillip Schofield live from the Royal Albert Hall, London.
The stars performing were: Yazz, Wet Wet Wet, Climie Fisher, Salt 'n' Pepa, Rick Astley, Jane Wiedlin, Brother Beyond, Bananarama, Bros and The Pasadenas.
and...
The British Record Industry Awards 1984 (11th February 1985, BBC One)?
This gala was a live broadcast from the Great Room, Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
Noel Edmonds was the host. Top names were be there to present and receive the industry's prestigious annual awards.
There were special guest performances by Tina Turner, Alison Moyet, Howard Jones, Nik Kershaw and Bronski Beat!
I know that there are other requests on the blog right now for you, so please take your time. There is no rush.
As you told me in a previous post, I post my request list to check availability.
Of course, there is no rush. As I told you, it would be nice if you can upload 3-4 files a week. It would be awesome if all files are available, but if you can only upload a small part of the list it would be great.
I will divide the list into three parts, because otherwise I can't post.

Hello xrayfour, you are posting many great tv gold, do you have the following, only when you can. Swap Shop Awards 1979 Swap Shop 22/12/1979 Swap Shop 10/01/1981 Multi-Coloured Music Show 1979 Pop Quiz 28/12/1984 Brit Awards '96 Multi-Coloured Music Show 1981
We don't mind sharing but it's important now to ask the blog owner Angelo if he is okay with non TOTP uploads here. It is a TOTP blog and we will respect whatever decision you make Angelo.
Hopefully Angelo (who runs a great site) will let Top of the Uploads continue with the extra music related shows. Anonymous and xrayfour are providing us with what I call "Music Television Gold" programmes many of us grew up with, and many born after this time who can see for themselves how fascinating these were to watch. It's always exciting to see what shows are available, not everyone had video recorders back then, so it's always nice to catch up on old shows we might have missed, plus it proves how great the music was back then and the interesting conversations with DJ's and their guests (Noel Edmonds, Steve Wright, Tony Blackburn and Simon Bates being my favourite presenters).
Okay folks. There are some outstanding requests posted here over the last few days perhaps in more ways than one! I asked Javier to list some of his requests and it would be unfair of me to pull the plug on them almost immediately. We would also ask you please not to request anymore shows for now as it will take time to sort through the above. I can also list here what is not available to us: Swap Shop 22/12/79 is wiped. The Debbie Harry footage survived on VHS and was digitally converted by Kaleidoscope. They have it but we don't. Sorry! The Brit awards from 1996 is not available. Most C4 shows are unavailable and we don't have "Ultravox - The Collection Advert" or "Design Matters with Ultravox". Keep an eye on the blog over the next few days and we will post what we can...if Angelo don't mind.
Hi Anonymous! Here's my weekly request for original shows, although there's no rush if you're working with xrayfour on other stuff. This week I'm after 6 shows from 1978. They are 2/02, 2/03, 13/04, 18/05, 7/09 and 30/11. Cheers!
I made some enquiries about the awards Fonziee and got half an hour of the show featuring The Bangles and A-ha from a friend. The bad news is that he has not given me permission to share it here. Hopefully someone might have the full show and post it for you. Sorry!
Good to see the various Awards ceremonies getting an airing but I'm amazed there hasn't yet been a request for the most famous Brit Awards from 1989 featuring Mick Fleetwood & Samantha Fox.
Can I sneak in a cheeky request for it XR4? I could do with a good giggle :-)
There's a wonderful quote from a reporter who attended that described Mick Fleetwood came on dressed as a Mexican undertaker & Sam Fox looked like someone had melted a stick of rock on her head LOL!
Curious for you to remember that Awards ceremony, Frayed Bentos! I bet you remember it because Sam Fox was on her best years...right? (Don't deny it!) Although she was a little nervous on that show... It was a live show, no one could blame her...
That Brits Award Ceremony is on my wish list for Xrayfour next...
Haha - In interviews I've seen since, Sam Fox blames a dodgy autocue and the intoxication of Mick Fleetwood for a lot of the bloopers, but The Brits '89 is certainly unforgettable for the wrong reasons whilst at the same time being TV Gold.
I have this Diamond Awards Festival, not the one Fonziee wanted but if I can send you if you want it to share. The tracklist is:
TV (NL) - 1986/1987 Diamond Awards Festival & American Music Awards [VHSrip] Diamond Awards Festival - Antwerp , Belguim 5th December 1986 Double - Captain of Her Heart (incomplete) Double - I Know A Place Alvin Stardust - Pretend Alvin Stardust - My Coo Ca Choo Howard Jones - You Know I Love You Howard Jones - What Is Love Viktor Lazlo - Sweet, Soft N' Lazy Bob Geldof - In The Pouring Rain Bob Geldof - This Is The World Calling Chaka Kahn - Tight Fit Chaka Kahn - I Feel For You The Stranglers - Always The Sun The Stranglers - Skin Deep Jermaine Jackson - World Into Action Jermaine Jackson - Do What You Do The Commodores - Goin' To The Bank The Commodores - Night Shifty Duran Duran - Vertigo Duran Duran - Notorious Jermaine Jackson & Jackson Brothers & All Artists - What's Going On
The DVD came with an extra:
The 14th Annual American Music Awards - January 26, 1987 Diana Ross - Touch By Touch Robert Palmer - I Didn't Mean To Turn You On Janet Jackson - Control Genesis - Invisible Touch (live Cleveland) Diana Ross - Lady Sings The Blues Medley Whitney Houston - All At Once Tina Turner - What You Get Is What You See Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight, Diana Ross & Artists - That's What Friends Are For
I hope you don't mind I encoded it to x264, from mpeg2 for saving space on the hard drive. I cropped the vhs lines and black borders. De-interlaced, colour correction and audio boost.
Size is now 1.24gb, if anyone wants this version.
https://we.tl/t-VBGg4PU9Zr
ps worth the watch just for Gladys Knight at the end :)
Ana, I think Samantha Fox was on her best in 1986 with the first hits 'Touch me' and 'Do ya do ya'. By 1989 she was not so sexy... she was trying to be the new Lisa Lisa.
Thanks for all these great shows Xrayfour.
You should start working as the new BBC Four manager and put more 80's shows on the air!
Thanks to all the uploaders for the excellent shows!

DeleteSwap Shop's live transmissions were recorded onto two separate reels.
You are a diamond xrayfour, big thanks for uploading this episode. Great quality for a 40+ old recording. really happy thanks again.

DeleteHi Xrayfour!
ReplyDeleteI downloaded the Countdown NL 10 Year Anniversary Special from 1989!
Do you have these shows Xrayfour?
Cheers,
Ana.
DeleteMany, many thanks xrayfour!!!
DeleteIt's great to have the opportunity to watch these shows from the 80's!
Cheers,
Ana.
First of all I want to THANK Anonymous and xrayfour for their upload!!
ReplyDeleteI have two editions from 1984 Montreux Festival: one is from a BFBS (I think it was a television channels to the British Forces personnel serving overseas) and the other one is from a Canadian channel named MuchMusic. Unfortunately, none of them have the Ultravox performance I am looking for.
Do you have this show xrayfour? (Of course, my version are at your disposal, if you want them)
Thanks in advance
Take care & stay healthy
Sorry for my English but it isn't my mother tongue
Javier
Hi Javier,
DeleteThree Montreux 1984 shows are available now in a folder. Ultravox are on Show One from 28/05/84. Show Three from 19/06/84 is a new high res copy.
Many, many thanks!!!
DeleteThe Montreux archives are fantastic...
Thanks in advance
Take care & stay healthy
Sorry for my English but it isn't my mother tongue
Javier
No guarantee of course that we will have your requests Javier but post any at the bottom of the page please in case we miss them.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteJavier, could you please post around 20 of your archive requests now if you have them to hand. It will take us time to check availability and would be helpful for us to have the names and dates. Thank you.

DeleteGreat stuff, mate!

With all these requests for eighties shows and specials no doubt people are sick of today's TV programming...
ReplyDeleteI also hate most of today's TV...
ReplyDeleteAnyone here has the TV special:

Hi xrayfour!
ReplyDeleteAs you told me in a previous post, I post my request list to check availability.
Of course, there is no rush. As I told you, it would be nice if you can upload 3-4 files a week. It would be awesome if all files are available, but if you can only upload a small part of the list it would be great.
I will divide the list into three parts, because otherwise I can't post.
Thanks in advance
Take care & stay healthy

Hello xrayfour, you are posting many great tv gold, do you have the following, only when you can.
ReplyDeleteSwap Shop Awards 1979
Swap Shop 22/12/1979
Swap Shop 10/01/1981
Multi-Coloured Music Show 1979
Pop Quiz 28/12/1984
Brit Awards '96
Multi-Coloured Music Show 1981
I'm not sure if Swap Shop 22/12/1979 still exits, but the Blondie interview does exit, and that's why I would like this episode please.
DeleteWe don't mind sharing but it's important now to ask the blog owner Angelo if he is okay with non TOTP uploads here. It is a TOTP blog and we will respect whatever decision you make Angelo.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Angelo (who runs a great site) will let Top of the Uploads continue with the extra music related shows.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous and xrayfour are providing us with what I call "Music Television Gold" programmes many of us grew up with, and many born after this time who can see for themselves how fascinating these were to watch.
Hi agree 100% with you Mr.Moog.
ReplyDeleteThis blog has always been great... with these rare music related shows the interest is even greater.
Rock the night!
Okay folks. There are some outstanding requests posted here over the last few days perhaps in more ways than one! I asked Javier to list some of his requests and it would be unfair of me to pull the plug on them almost immediately. We would also ask you please not to request anymore shows for now as it will take time to sort through the above.
ReplyDeleteI can also list here what is not available to us:
Swap Shop 22/12/79 is wiped. The Debbie Harry footage survived on VHS and was digitally converted by Kaleidoscope. They have it but we don't. Sorry!
The Brit awards from 1996 is not available.
Most C4 shows are unavailable and we don't have
"Ultravox - The Collection Advert" or "Design Matters with Ultravox".
Keep an eye on the blog over the next few days and we will post what we can...if Angelo don't mind.
Ok that's cool xrayfour, Thank You for checking.
DeleteHi Anonymous! Here's my weekly request for original shows, although there's no rush if you're working with xrayfour on other stuff. This week I'm after 6 shows from 1978. They are 2/02, 2/03, 13/04, 18/05, 7/09 and 30/11. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHi Brie, here they are
Deletehttps://we.tl/t-u7ZVsukoiH
Great stuff as usual, mate. Many thanks!
DeleteFour shows for Ana available now:
ReplyDeleteBritish Rock and Pop Awards 24/02/82 and 21/02/84.
Smash Hits Poll Winners Party 29/10/89 and 11/11/90.
Thanks Xrayfour! Great quality!
DeleteMany, many thanks Xrayfour!!!😁
ReplyDeleteI downloaded the 4 shows!👍
It's fantastic to watch these great music specials!
Cheers,😉
Ana.
Hi guys!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to check my request:
DIAMOND AWARDS 1988
It was a gala held in Belgium on Saturday 19 November 1988 with Level 42, Sandra, Roy Orbison, A-ha, The Bangles...
Stay safe.
Regards
I made some enquiries about the awards Fonziee and got half an hour of the show featuring The Bangles and A-ha from a friend. The bad news is that he has not given me permission to share it here. Hopefully someone might have the full show and post it for you. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteOk, no problem.
ReplyDeleteThanks bro.
Good to see the various Awards ceremonies getting an airing but I'm amazed there hasn't yet been a request for the most famous Brit Awards from 1989 featuring Mick Fleetwood & Samantha Fox.
ReplyDeleteCan I sneak in a cheeky request for it XR4?
I could do with a good giggle :-)
It's coming, just dying hair pink as sam fox did.
ReplyDeleteLOL - Excellent ;-)
DeleteThere's a wonderful quote from a reporter who attended that described Mick Fleetwood came on dressed as a Mexican undertaker & Sam Fox looked like someone had melted a stick of rock on her head LOL!
DeleteCurious for you to remember that Awards ceremony, Frayed Bentos!
ReplyDeleteI bet you remember it because Sam Fox was on her best years...right? (Don't deny it!) Although she was a little nervous on that show... It was a live show, no one could blame her...
That Brits Award Ceremony is on my wish list for Xrayfour next...
So, Xrayfour, When you can please upload:
-The Brits 89, 13 February 1989 (BBC 1);
-The Brits 90, 19 February 1990 (BBC 1);
-The Brits 1991, 11 February 1991 (BBC 1);
-The Brits 1992, 12 February 1992 (BBC 1).
Cheers,
Ana.
Haha - In interviews I've seen since, Sam Fox blames a dodgy autocue and the intoxication of Mick Fleetwood for a lot of the bloopers, but The Brits '89 is certainly unforgettable for the wrong reasons whilst at the same time being TV Gold.
DeleteBrits 89 now avalible.
ReplyDeleteOkay Javier, still working on your requests and the two Wogan shows are available now.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for ALL these fantastic shows you are sharing with us.
DeleteThe Ultravox performance (All Fall Down) with The Chieftains is awesome...never seen before.
As I told you no rush with my requests.
Take care & stay healthy.

Ana, I think Samantha Fox was on her best in 1986 with the first hits 'Touch me' and 'Do ya do ya'.
ReplyDeleteBy 1989 she was not so sexy... she was trying to be the new Lisa Lisa.
