Long digging, gone fishing, love the 20th of November 1998 edition of Top of the Pops!
It's a kind of Madge

Have to say it is now E-17, not East 17 Angelo!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, can't ever remember Madonna performing in the TOTP studio before, so is this a first in 1998, cos I only remember her for her videos on TOTP since bursting on the scene in 1983 with Holiday? Nice dress and accompanying orchestra on stage.
Chart rundown - good to see Sham Rock back up to No.17, but still no feature on the show. Excellent video I must say, and recommending watching it in full.
A couple of new entries this week at peak positions further down the charts:
No. 65 New Power Generation - Come On
Without Prince and now happily going on their own, I saw them live a few years ago at Koko in Camden Town, and they were brilliant, and even doing some Prince tracks without the great man himself.
No.74 Linda McCartney - Wide Prairie
Surprised to see Linda with a single of her own, as she was always part of Paul McCartney's singles, so not sure why this one was without Paul, but this was the first of two brief singles in 1998/99, both of which failed to trouble the Top 50, and while Paul had no new singles of his own during that period.
@Dory Madonna was in the studio in 1995 with my favourite track, You'll see.
DeleteAnd way back in 1984, with Holiday.
Good to know - didn't remember the 1995 appearance, but seems like not so rare now.
