  1. Interesting show this one, with one old-timer band, and one old time single used as a cover version for Children In Need.

The Simple Minds - Good Lord, first single in three years, matching their last peak position of No.18 in 1995. Apart from two new singles in 1998, it was to be another long break from them for four years until a return ion 2002 with three singles brought no Top 40 positions for them, so as Angelo correctly mentions, Glitterball here in early 1998 was their last Top 40 single, and presumably also their last TOTP appearance.

Cast From Casualty - I'm presuming from the group name, it had to be a cover, as these were actors, not professional singers, but Everlasting Love I feel should have been confined to the 60's, as somehow it does not have a sound for the 90s, even as a cover, so I'm not sure what the point was in choosing this single for Children In Need, when there would be so many other songs to choose from.

    1. Wasn't 'Everlasting Love' also synonymous with Clive James's regular guest around this time, Margarita Pracatan? I'll have to look on YouTube I'm sure she did this with an enormous 'looooovvve' at the end. She was real tv gold. You could be forgiven for thinking 'Cast From Casualty' was an unfortunate satellite link! I didn't see Claire Goode in the group anyway and she ws definitely the star of the time. Oh yes, her and the lovely Jan Anderson.
