Sadly, the next three editions of Top of the Pops, the 6th, 13th and 20th August, will not be broadcast on BBC4 due to them all being hosted by Scott Mills. So a huge thanks goes once again to Anonymous for making them available on SwissTransfer.

(5) EMINEM FEAT. DR. DRE - Guilty Conscience
20 August
(20) FEEDER - Yesterday Went Too Soon
There is no way of watching these versions as BBC4 pulled them:
The thing i don't understand about pulling the Scott Mills episodes is that there is other stuff with him in it on iplayer.

ReplyDeleteDope Smugglaz - this reworking of Malcolm McLaren's Double Dutch from 1983 was quite interesting in that Dope Smugglaz had the 1983 video playing on the screen on stage behind them.
Bring back Malcolm McLaren!
Marvin & Tamara - these two 13-year olds - was it a case of growing up too soon, or was this another Musical Youth, the 1982 group with early teenagers?
Three new entries by the return of 70s & 80s old timers in the chart this week:
No.23 Cliff Richard - The Miracle
No.25 Culture Club - Your Kisses Are Charity
No.29 Candi Staton
Interesting how these three were shunned on TOTP this week in favour of a lower new entry at No.33 by Skunk Anansie who jumped the queue ahead of those three for a slot on the show. Good Lord!

ReplyDeleteBasement Jaxx - TOTP cut out from the video just before the end where you can see the dog waking up from his dream, and if you watch the whole video from the start, the same dog at the start of the video began the dream which was basically the whole video where Felix is romancing a hottie in a sexy red dress, and then a sexy two-piece at the end when Felix wins his duel.
Top 20 rundown - a brief glimpse of Planet Perfecto ft Grace video for Not Over Yet is worth a watch in full, as we're not going to get to see it after this brief snippet on the Top 20 rundown. It's a remake of Grace's solo single from 1996, but much better video now in 1999 in collaboration with Planet Perfecto.
Future No.1 Lou Bega is up to No.40 this week with Mambo No.5.
20-08-99
ReplyDeletePuff Daddy & Hurricane G - was this Puff Daddy's first appearance in the TOTP studio, as I remember his 1997 No.1 single I'll Be Missing You we just got the video every week.
Future No.1 Lou Bega is now up to No.33 with Mambo No.5, but just realised it was released again in September on a different label which is the one that got to No.1, not this one, as he is listed separately in Aug and Sep 1999 as two separate singles, even with the same song title!
Thank you to all involved in getting these for us!
ReplyDeleteI'm just curious when Top Of The Pops 20/10/1983 will be re shown by the BBC, they repeat different 1983 episodes, just in a random order..
ReplyDeleteTop Of The Pops 20/10/1983 was last shown on BBCFour on Sat 19 Oct 2024.
