Chart rundown - I spotted a new entry at No.25 by Cathy Dennis called West End Pad, and also at peak position, and therefore no TOTP performance. It was indeed her fist single since for two-and-a-half years since her last single called Why reached No.23 in 1994, but I don't think she had been on TOTP since 1991.
ReplyDelete3T & Michael Jackson - in this week's video exclusive, Jackson joins his grown up nephews in their video to help the tune along, but it must have been successful if the group peaked at No.2, so thanks for the info Angelo.
Robbie Williams - ok so a new entry at No.2, but it's hard to listen to this George Michael classic performed by anyone else, so RW just didn't come across as well as GM.
One new entry peaking outside the Top 40 this week was the re-mix of Cerrone's Supernature which originally charted in the summer of 1978 amidst the Grease craze, and was used as the theme and and background tune for Hot Gossip on Kenny Everett's show on ITV at around that time, but not sure why a remix was released in the summer of 1996!
Opens with two long forgotten singles, neither especially remarkable.
ReplyDeleteDodgy with an enduring anthem, and I actually have a soft spot for this Me Me Me single. Crossroads another song that's endured, and Trash is a cracking Britpop track, probably the most poppy Suede song?.
Then a bunch of not for me although I retrospectively like Wannabe more than I did then and the Spice Girls were clearly born to be famous.
Dodgy, a great summer song.
ReplyDeleteSong of the night, Suede Trash.
A bloated Robbie Williams not bad.
The rest, not worth it.
