Had already peaked at number 11.
(1) AQUA – Doctor Jones (and credits)
First of two weeks at number one.
Saint Etienne - was this worth the wait for two years since their last single? Not sure, as it is a song about a jealous girlfriend warning off a 17-year-old girl rival (Sylvie) from taking her man because she can. Sounds a bit like Dolly Parton's Jolene from 1975. Worth watching the video - good choice of girl as Sylvie wearing a summer minidress through the video.
ReplyDeleteWill Smith - Good Lord, the familiar routine of video only, and a message or sermon to TOTP viewers from him in America, instead of flying in from America to perform in the TOTP studio.
The Rolling Stones - after this video was shown on TOTP this week at No.26 in a main slot on the show, interestingly the single tumbled to No.55 the following week. Talk about TOTP giving a song momentum.....but then again the group were well into their fifties at this point in 1998. Good Lord!
Top 20 rundown - Steps once again dip into the Top 20, having been in and out of the Top 20 consistently for two months since December 1997, and only one appearance in the TOTP studio across these two months. When are they going to move on to their second single?
Ready for TOTP2 Rob.......
This is a random request for anyone who could kindly help out with the 28th March 1997 episode that BBC4 skipped over but was uploaded here (link now dead).
